ATV Guidelines for Converse County, WY

Real property records such as mortgages, deeds, releases, and covenants are permanent records. In addition to these, the Clerk's Office also records notary bonds and military discharge papers upon request.

Requirements for recorded documents:

  • General document information: Up to legal size (8 ½” x14”); recordings may be double-sided; however, each side counts as a page to calculate fees; there are no additional fees based on the size of the paper; no margin requirements; and, while cover letters are not required, they are appreciated as they contain excellent contact information which is very helpful to the staff.

  • Must be an original document.

  • A Wyoming Statement of Consideration disclosing the financial information of the transaction must accompany each recording. It's the buyer's responsibility to fully complete the Statement which is a confidential document used by the County Assessor to determine market value of all property in the county. More information on Statements of Considerations is available. Documents must be clearly readable and reproducible.

  • Names must be printed or typed under all signatures except notaries and witnesses.

  • Documents must be acknowledged in accordance with Wyoming law.

  • Document type should be in the document title.

  • Some documents cannot be recorded; i.e., stocks, bonds, money, vital records, passports, citizenship papers, copyrights, and patent.

The Vital Records Division (307-777-7591) at the State of Wyoming must be contacted for birth certificates and death certificates.
